To buy or not to buy, X-Type
Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and unfortunately i am not yet a Jaguar owner.
I have always adored Jags aesthetically and would really like to purchase one for my first car but i am looking for some advice.
I have found a nice 2003 xtype V6 auto, milage just under 90000KM for €4950/$7067.. its from a dealership but i intend to get it checked out independently before i make any decisions.
Could anyone please fill me in on what this car is best suited for?
I don't necessarily need a car, i don't need to drive to work etc its purely for luxury/Weekend driving etc but i am not aware, i suppose, of the cost to maintain these cars - would it be a good 'first car', would i get much longer out of it once looked after with it being a 2003 car? Is it ridiculously expensive to change a tyre for example?
Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated as i am a bit clueless when it comes to deciding what model of Jag would suit me best :/
Thanks
Rach

From my little experience with my x type if you dont like working on cars or regularly maintaining your cars you might want to stay away from the x -type. I luv the aesthetics and sporty look of the x-type. So if u r looking for a luxury to looks to price ratio it is a pretty good deal. I got mine relatively cheap. The only problem is its hard to diagnose problems for. Thats what this forum is here for. It has a lot of knowledgeably people . I did most of my research here when I had problems even before I joined the forum

I suggest asking yourself if you actually require AWD. Any AWD vehicle has the potential of adding unnecessary expenses for a pleasure car. Why pay to maintain an expensive system if it isn't required in your dream car? There are plenty of nice Jags to choose from. Why not sink the money into even more luxury and less maintenance?
Let's face it, AWD isn't a cheap option. So how do you suppose Jag included it in their least expensive car? They must have cut some corners somewhere, comparatively speaking. That said, if you come to an X-type forum you're going to find a lot of people who love their cars regardless, me included.
