a/c blowing fuses, car refuses to start when warm
related in some fashion?
The other day, I had the parts store swap out a battery (six months old) tat had a bad cell. The car wasn't starting when warm- turn the key to the ON position, everything worked, turn to start, nothing, back to on, everything worked. It push started just fine.
The battery they gave me died the next day. Although the car started, the starter sounded like it was having a difficult time turning.
Anyway, the A/C has been blowing fuses once a month for the passed few months. My mechanic has no idea why. Could these problems be related?
Has anyone had problems like this before?
How difficult is it to change the alternator if that's what it comes to?

To change the alternator you have to remove the A/C compressor first. This means removing A/C gas first. After removing the gas, remove the front wheel, remove the drive belt, remove the compressor and then remove the alternator. And then regas the A/C afterwards. Hope this helps.
You ask if there may be a connection between two issues: repeatedly blowing A/C fuses and a weak battery / starter.
Try this: Unplug the A/C fuse and see if the result is a strong battery / starter.

The starting issue was resolved- my starter died. Now, I need to find out why the ac clutch fuse is blowing.
There may be a short in the line near the clutch, or the clutch itself is going bad.
The car has 160k miles on it.

It's difficult to give definite guidance without details of which model X Type you have and which fuses are blowing. However, a number of odd fuse problems have been found to be caused by a faulty Security Sounder that is powered through the same fuse as parts of the A/C system in some X Types.
The sounder is hidden away behind the lefthand side wheelarch liner and has a 3 way black connector with two blue and one black wire.
It might be worth your checking if disconnecting it helps.
