Default A/C Problem

Hi, I am new to the jag forum, I just bought an X Type 2003 2.0 diesel, the problem I have is the A/C button on the dash won't turn off unless I turn off the blower and then the A/C goes off, is there a way around this fault or is it just me not knowing how to turn the A/C off???????
Anyone else had this problem and how do you get around it if you can, Cheers, Joe

joseph: Welcome to the JaguarForums. Lots of useful information here from friendly folks who enjoy our X-Types and like to help each other keep them running smoothly.

By chance, is the air blowing at your windscreen? If 'yes', try re-directing the air to blow at your face or feet, then see if you can turn off the A/C.

A "design feature" of our cars is to turn on the A/C whenever the air is directed at the windscreen, because the A/C removes moisture from the air, and dry air quickly evaporates condensate from inside the windscreen.

The manual actually tells you to put the system in 'auto', and the computer handle it.

Hi guys, thanks for the info, to answer dwclapp, yes the air is blowing at the windscreen and has been more or less since I got the car as we have had a fair bit of rain, I used it to clear the misting on the windscreen and it's still set that way, I will be trying your solution ASAP and I will let you know how I get on, thank you.
to answer wa3ra, I never received a manual or any owners info with the car so I am pretty much flying blind at the moment and any info of any sort is very welcome at the moment, thanks guys.

I'm pretty sure the AC light will be illuminated when you are in auto mode, although the compressor may not be engaged all the time.

No problem, you can get the whole thing here https://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topi...document/index this is the North American link but if you hit the US/English link at the top you can go through the set up and select the UK version.
