Default A/C Question about pressure and blowing two different temps

Ok so I drive 2002 X-Type 3.0 and recently just filled up my system with freon. It was empty because the low side charging valve went bad and has been replaced. I put two 340 gram cans of freon in the system which is not the full amount it calls for which is a total of 840 grams. It will blow cold only out of the passenger side and only sometimes as the compressor only kicks on when it chooses. I think the compressor issue is due to the fact of low freon but it only blowing cold out if the passenger side has me confused. And also I have pressure gauge when I'm charging the system. Where should it be at when the compressor is running and if the system was completely full of freon? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Rigsby, based on what you are describing, what you are seeing is simply a low freon charge. Based on what you had happen, I would recommend getting the freon system evacuated as any air in the system will cause a significant loss of cooling ability. From there, you can add the required amount. You can add more freon, but it would be done following the directions on the can. The add rig will have a pressure gauge that you need to look at and fill the system to the "green band". From there, you should have decent cooling.

Thanks Thermo I appreciate the advice. I will go and get the system evacuated. Now if I get a vacuum pulled on it and it don't hold that would mean I have a leak in the system correct? Also I have read on here that even sometimes if the freon is fully charged there is still sometimes a issue with a door in the airflow where it blows warm on the drivers side and cold on the passengers side. Is that correct as well?

Rigsby, yes, you are correct when drawing the vacuum. With the blend door issue, yes, there is a known issue with that. So, you can look into that too.
