Can I use URO part version of Coolant return hose C2S23485 instead of genuine version
Hello all, how are you doing? Can you please help me here a little?
I would like to replace my 2007 Jaguar X-type swollen coolant return hose (lower expansion tank hose) --part C2S23485-- and am having this dilemma: can I use a URO coolant return hose C2S23485 version, @ $15, or I must-must-must use the genuine OEM C2S23485 version of it? "My" New York jaguar dealership closed permanently and ordering from others cost $80 plus shipping $20, $100.
Also I guess, this time, differently from the radiator hose/s, I shouldn't empty the coolant system, but just lower the coolant level from the expansion tank under its hose level entry like I would lower the pool water for the winter, under its return "eye"). I mean with easy DIY replacement myself. Thank you.

Hi marcela,
You've dropped into the XK8/R forum instead of the X-Type, so you'd be best to repost here:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x-type-x400-14/
...or maybe one of our tireless mods will move the post for you.
I'd be wary of buying mission-critical parts other than OEM, but check out SNG Barratt (a forum sponsor). They do both OEM and aftermarket so you can make that call.
As to draining the coolant completely - when was it last changed? If it's three years or more I'd be tempted to replace.
Good luck!
Mike

I've moved your question from XK8/XKR Tech Help to X-Type forum.
Have you looked at forum Sponsor S N G Barratt's website? They do OE C2S23485 at $59.26 and aftermarket equivalent at $19.44:

S N G Barratt also offer member 10% discount on most items if mentioned when ordering.

Of course that I contacted SNG Barratt. Yesterday. They said that both are good and that they "would use either of both" --aftermarket or "standard" ( the $59.26 hose) but that they only have in stock the aftermarket version. If I wanted the "standard"(?) it would take two weeks + to get it. Thank you.

Seriously, if SNG said either/or take their word and experience at face value. Buy the one they have and move on. Do it yourself or dont, good lord, it's a hose. As for how it works, let's see......how do fluids work? Oh yeah they seek the lowest point. So if you remove a hose, where is the highest point from that point that fluid would flow downwards? Common sense is your answer.
