Default Can't Figure this problem out Please Help

My X type had gotten a car wash and then sat in garage for a few days as I went out of town, then I took it on the freeway and got the abs, Dsc system fault. and eventually a check engine light and read the code c1165 rear right abs sensor. I then ordered a sensor and cleared the codes. The next day the codes came back and the lights went on. The car then displayed Gear Box fault and a break light fault and went into limp home mode. It was not a fun drive home but I was confident that it was the sensor. I replaced the sensor and the check engine light went on again and it still reads the Rear Right c1165, even with the brand new sensor. I also read that it could be a battery problem so I charged the battery over night. I unplugged it and saw the check engine light is off but the code still reads c1165. Any thoughts?

I have heard it may need a Throttle body cleaning or new Abs module but could there be anything else?

eterwithap, remove the sensor on the corner in question and using a flashlight, look down in the hole that the sensor sits in. I bet you will find that the teeth/gear that is there is very rusted if not missing. This is a common problem with our cars and requires you to replace the hub assembly which will get you the new ring. The other thing to check for is damage to the wiring harness going to the sensor (especially if you find that the toothed gear seems to be in impeccable condition). It is possible that something caught the wiring and it has broken the wiring, leading to intermittent signals.

For the rear of the car you replace the outer CV joint on the axle not the hub assembly.
You can also look for a replacement sensor ring--that would be the least expensive .

Ok thank you both so much I'm going to check this out tomorrow and I will put that piece in my shopping cart. Also could it be possible that this is caused by a bad bearing?

If you think it might be caused by a bad bearing, you might want to see this video on CV joints. It's a good run down on the 'general' constant velocity joint, but it probably differs from what's in the X-Type here and there.

Ok, so I looked through the whole and couldn't see anything. Thus I'm pretty sure it isn't there anymore. I have a mechanic who is going to hunt down a ring for me and install one, thanks everyone. I will let you know how it goes after the repairs are complete.

Default All fixed!!!!!

Ok so it is all fixed. Both reluctor rings were damaged, one had rusted off actually. My mechanic actually had a brand new one ordered in and just welded the cracks in the other one since it had no rust and so far the cat is running great. Thank you everyone.
