Default Car won’t start

Hello I recently acquired an 2002 X-Type 2,5 there was a lot of rust under the car but that has been fixed. In the beginning it used to start but where I was working on it I couldn’t keep it inside perm so I drove it out when I was done for the day. But one time I forgot to unplug the minus pole before welding and after that it won’t start and it says gearbox fault and something about the cruise control. Dose anyone know what might have happened and how to maybe fix this
regards

Try disconnecting the battery for an hour or so.

Remember that you will need the radio code when you restore power.

The battery has been disconnected for many days now and I took the ECM/ECU out and checked it and those look fine and still nothing has changed but I just got an OBD2 reader so I’ll update when I know the what it tells me

thanks for the reply

B2477 is reporting that the General Electronics Control Module is incorrectly configured.
It is located in RHS front foot well.
Sounds like the welding current and voltage transients have either damaged the GEM, or corrupted its parameters memory and it likely needs to be reconfigured or outright replaced.
Not likely something you can easily do at home without the appropriate dealer software to talk to the car's systems.
