Car would not start until I fiddled with the gear lever
Hello;
Today I had a rather unpleasant experience. I took my grandmother to a outpatient procedure, and when I went to pick up the car to go home afterwards it would not start. I tried playing with the gear shifter and then the car started. It seems like it "thought" it wasn't in "park". I have tried to duplicate this but could not, but it happened once before about six months ago. I do not like things that prevent me from starting my car.
What is starting to go here? What needs to be replaced?
thanks for any help

You probably need to adjust the selector lever cable and gearbox lever/shaft to sync everything up. There is a special plastic tool to set the selector lever and then adjust. All info is in JTIS.
You don't need the special tool but it helps.
