Check Engine>Cruise Not Available?????
Check engine light on then Cruise Not Available on read out. Googled this message online and found this happens mostly in cold temps and is an electrical issue. Seems when I gun it, it goes away (both) and if not then in a couple of days. Some said it's the "reflash ECU".....whatever that means. Others say its a pcv leak. Does anyone know anything about this???????
LAD, this has to do with the fly by wire controls for the throttlebody. A quick check that I would do is to open the hood and locate the throttlebody (little bit right of center, follow the air intake back to the bright silver piece that you run into). Now, look to the right side of the throttlebody and you will see the drive motor for the throttle body. Find the cable for this and look over the wiring really good. A lot of people have found this wiring damaged and it will cause this type of failure. I would also get the codes read as this may provide some more insight to what is going on with the engine and what the computer sees as a potential problem.
I had an issue also with cruise control not being available. I found this to be a faulty brake switch which led to my rear lights being on all the time.
There is also a current 2006-2010 Model Xtype 2.2d Safety recall from Jaguar relating to the Cruise Control.
"If the driver is trying to engage the cruise control an amber warning and the message "cruise not available" light will be displayed..." It goes on to say that when engaged it may stay on and braking/cancelling will not switch it off!
I have not experienced this other than the faulty switch early last year which cost me £90 to fix.
