Default Checking fuses

Hi newbie question here.

Do I need to disconnect the battery to check fuses? I suspect all my o2 sensors heaters suffered a short somewhere. I'm waiting for my multimeter I would just like to do the really simple checks first before I start tearing into the harness when my dmm gets here.

Thank you

It would be most helpful if you would put the model and year in your signature. Assuming yours is a pre 2004 model X-Type you need to check fuses 38 and 42 in the fuse box in the engine compartment.
With the ignition off you can remove and install fuses without disconnecting the battery.
If you want to check for power availability remove the fuse first and then turn the ignition to the ON position and take your readings. Turn the ignition back to off before reinstalling the fuse.
The 2004 and up have a different wiring harness and fuse layout.
