Arrow Child Safety - Latch System

Hello to all,
As new Grandparents we now need to consider making provisions for
transporting our dearest of possessions.

Pages 59-67 of the X-Type Owners Handbook describes the 'Latch System' as
a preferred method of attaching and securing Child Seats.

The associated diagrams illustrate Latch System anchor points and infers these are standard fittings. I have managed to locate the 3 upper anchors (behind rear seat Headrests) but I cannot see or feel the lower anchors ?

My Query are;
•*Do the lower Latch Type anchors need to be fitted - as aftermarket parts?
• Are these items available from Jaguars Parts Inventory?
• If not, where can I get these from ?

All help appreciated

The brackets or loops are between the seat cushion and the back just below a label. if you have the top latch you should have the lower ones.

Hi Paul,
Thank you for your response and info.

Nope, I neither have the label(s) or the Loops you show in your Photos.

Hmmm..... maybe they are not usually installed in LE Sports Models?

Default Update: No Lower Latch Loops

Paul,
It just occurred to me..... do your rear seat back cushions - have the fold-down option?
(mine has) perhaps this is (another) reason why Latch Loops are not installed in mine ?

However, the point now becomes, where can I get the missing 4 Lower loop/brackets ?

Are they exclusively from Jaguar as a spare part? or are they commonly available elsewhere ?

All help appreciated.....

Although I have not yet been able to source any info on lower Latch Loop brackets for X-Type Jaguar..... here is an image showing the Bracket Part used by Audi & VW;

I do have the fold down option The brackets are bolted in position, if you pull up on the front corners of the back seat then once both sides are unlatched push back and lift the seat out and you will be able to see the mounting points of the bracket or hopefully the bracket itself.
Call your local wrecking yard and see if they have a jag they are breaking not sure if the s-type or the xj8 has the same bracket but you may get lucky.

lcgi,
take a ride to babies R us I see there are 2 in Brisbane,
Or even the local police should be able to help.
they should be able to show you how to fit the car seat using the seat belt and the top parcel shelf latch.

I do find it strange as in 2002 it became law to have these fitted as standard in all cars (at least here in the US ).

Paul,
I have no problem understanding or utilising the Top Anchor(s) in combination with outboard adult passenger seat belt(s) - to then fix-in a Child Seat.
My own children use that method to transport our Grandchildren in their vehicles.

However, I believe the missing lower Anchor Point (bracketry) would be a better, easier and more secure method to install the Child Seat(s) in our X-Type.

I have contacted the local Jaguar dealership to enquire about these Brackets as replacement parts - but appear to have fallen on deaf ears - over there.
If I could just get a pic, drawing / diagram or Jaguar part number for these.... I could use that to search the globe and get the correct part.

My quest continues......

I have to pull my back seat out this weekend taking those pics showed how dirty they are getting so prompted me to clean,
I shall see if my brackets have any part numbers on them.
May also be an idea to check with the local wrecking yard and try a few Ford parts the Mondeo or even a Focus may work take your car with you and see if there is a fit may need a T55 Torx socket. A couple of hours searching could save you a few coins that you can spend on the new arrival.
I totally understand why you want the brackets I have a 2 year old.

Doc,
Information is coming to light... these lower LATCH Brackets as utilised by various Vehicle Producers; VW, AUDI, JAGUAR, etc. are manufactured to a common engineering specification (materials and dimensions) e.g.; Anchor Loop Crs = 400mm.

If you have a bracket handy..... Can you measure & advise what the fixing bolt hole centres are?

Maybe the FORD ISOFIX version is a viable alternative?

Hi Doc,
The Brackets have arrived in this mornings parcel post delivery - which is pretty darn good from USA - Australia.

I assume the only preparations required to install these two brackets will be accomplished after removal of just the rear seat cushion...... is this correct?

Best regards,
Larry E.

Arrow Update: Job Completed

Howdy to all,
I'm pleased to inform that with vital help from Dr dome - I was able to successfully instal the missing Latch Brackets.....

The result is I can now secure Child Seat(s) the intended way... Which is much better than using the main Seat Belt(s) as the means to secure a Child Seat.

Attached are a couple of Pics showing the 'as installed' Brackets;

Once the rear 'Seat Cussion' and fold-down 'Seat Backs' are removed - installation of the Latch Brackets, kindly supplied by Dr dome - was just a breeze.

Should anyone else have this problem of missing Latch System Brackets and needs assistance or maybe just more general info. on the procedure I used - then please PM me.

Hi Larry;
I know the forum is dated but I find myself in the same situation as you with my X TYPE from 2007 and no sofix insllation. I am in France and I would have liked to have the reference of the part and how to install it. Best regards
