Default To Clarify: The T-case has a drain and fill plug?

I want to drain and fill my t-case. It has a drain and fill plug right next to eachother? Could I use a siphon pump to fill it back up? It will be on ramps but I suspect it would be about the same as level if I fill to the hole. Also, any GL-5 fluid is ok I take it?

The transfer case only has 1 plug, the drain plug. You will refill it thru the drain plug. There are a few methods for getting the fluid back in there, a syphon might work... As for the fluid there seems to be some kind of debate as to what kind of fluid it is, I think it has been refered to as the mystery fluid. This info is covered in the threads as well.

You obviously have not read the dozens of threads on the subject here..

The fill hole is on top, inexcessable unless you remove the TC.
The Drain hole is on the side near the transmission, very tight quarters to wrk greasy fingers in..You fill it through the Drain hole, above the car's engine area using a special adapted long tubingand fitting. draining leaves about 200mL in the TC..Filling requires about450mL or more...Youshould use a quality synthetic gear lube (75w140) I used Royal Purple.

Please do a search of these threads here..

Yeah I searched and read but didn't notice that the fill plug is on the top. On every other car I've owned the transfercase drain and fill were vertically oriented (obviously smarter) and it was a breeze. This setup almost makes me want to just run it "lifetime" style!

Technically the tc is not suppose to be services - sealed for life is the term they use to describe this. However some of the daringmembers of this forum ventured into the tc and have proven otherwise.
