I have never used a clay bar before , but I'm pleased with results . Its added a new dimention to the paint work ,,,

Just recently I helped another member Rab ( Kingfisher ) who has a lovely example, but the paintwork was very rough, seriously contaminated, although otherwise in excellent shape.
We used the clay bar and it certainly made a difference, as below...

Out of curiosity, did you apply and wax / polish etc afterwards?
I'm thinking that Poorboys Blackhole ( specifically designed for blues, blacks and darker colourded cars ) would again, make a difference.

I've used that on both my blue Audi and Black Jag and its amazing, it helps to cover and slight swirls or scratches, but over and above that it actually makes the base colour darker somehow. Its probably the fillers that do this I guess but on black if you apply in a small circular pattern then buff off, stand back and look at the car from slightly different angles, you can see the spot you've just done.

Wasn't very scientific Jim . Quick swill off with warm water , then clay bar'ed usingmy own made lube ( wash wax & water in a garden squirty bottle ) then a leather dry off & a coat of Showroom shine liquid wax .

I also used a rattle can spray on the air dam bottom , it was looking a bit tatty & chipped .. ( Brit Race Green from model shop )

 

I heard - vaguely - of using clay bar, but what does it do for the car?

I have some crackling on the hood of my black cat - would it help with that?
