Is there a way to direct air onto my windscreen without using the AC? Any effort to use the windscreen button in the climate screen results in no air coming out of the vents by the windscreen unless the AC is on. As soon as I turn the AC on, a full jet of air comes out!

All the other options (footwell, dashboard etc) for blowing air work fine without the AC being on, but not the windscreen! The car is an X-Type 3.0L Premium Sport.

Adam, the system is designed to use the AC compressor as needed; it will automatically demist the windscreen if you let it.

Just hit the AUTO button and let the computer do it; use the defrost button if you need more, although I've found that I rarely need it. No mean feat in the Pocono Mountains!
