Default Clutch or Transmission? Either way car is not moving.

Hey guys,

I need a diagnostic help. I have 2004 x-type with 3.0 manual transmission.
Recently I had rear differential replaced because it locked up while I was driving 70 MPH on the freeway. A month later, car stalled while I was driving uphill. After restarting it was moving again. There was a slight grinding noise couple days before and one time I heard huge blast sound while I was taking 90 degrees turn at the STOP sign. Then I stopped driving.

My local mechanic put a stethoscope under the transmission while car was on the rack and running, I heard small crunchy sound. Mechanic thinks it's the transmission.

After driving a few roundabouts in my parking lot by a party interested in buying the car, it doesn't move now. I was outside while he was doing roundabouts, I heard some cracking noise. Online research told me that I should put the car in 4th gear while break is on then if car doesn't stall or doesn't move then you have a bad clutch.

After doing that, car didn't stall or it didn't move at all. However there was a tiny grinding noise when I was letting the clutch up from the floor. So now I'm wondering if it is a clutch then mind as well get it repaired and put off a new car search for later.

I'll add more stuff if I remember anything. Buyer is offering $3300 as is. It has 114xxx miles on it.

Any thoughts are welcome. Also how much usually cost to replace/repair the clutch?
Thanks

Replaced the clutch set 1.5 year ago. It's a real pain in the a&#. To get the clutch housing off the car, you've got to remove the subframe and etc. It's a 13 hrs job if I'm not mistaken. Taking in consideration the amount of time that needs to be spent on this, the cost of OEM parts isn't bad at all.

Jag Dealers quoted me for ~ $7k for this job (lol), and all of them replace the flywheel during this repair.

I had my clutch replaced for $1500. The local Jag dealer quoted me $2200, then referred me to a transmission shop. They resurfaced the flywheel.
