Has anyone see this Cold Air Intake for the X?

Hello, we have had two versions of the X-type kit in the past. The engine setup and the ecu processor speed make having an intake on this car very difficult.

We are actually hoping to have a newer versionrelatively soon.

regarding getting a 4 exit pipe setup (like the Arden) custom built for mine hopefully for £279.99 and they offer £25 towards travelling costs.

Get a KnN air filter. Cold air intake improves performance, but at the same time will be problematic if you live in an are that either recieves lots of snow or lots of rain. So if you live in the desert, go ahead, but otherwise a KnN should do more than fine. Also, KnN costs about 40 bucks. A short ram intake would be fine as well.

Gotti,
The intake kit you're looking at will not be worth it. One of the reasons is that it's too short, has no heat shielf and offers no added performance.

You're kit will suck in the engines hot air....most intake kits (good ones that cost over 100 bucks) offer a down pipe so that your engine will be sucking in cold outside air which can increase hp by as much as 3-4....

Don't waste your money on the cheap stuff....there is a reason why one product is cheaper than the others....

So you guys recommend K&N airfilter? Who has it, and how much of an upgrade is it in HP, 5 to 10?

I like to get it and how easy is it to install

I recommend the K&N filter, but not for hp gains. it will save you money becasue you can clean it and re-use it..

I got the filter today, and hopefully i can install it this weekend. Will let you know if i feel any difference in performance.

I already have a drop-in K&N installed and its great! I could tell there is a slight improvement in performance; I was just wondering if an intake would improve HP & performance.

From the sounds of it, I'll stick w/ the K&N.

My next step will be a Borla Exhaust install this summer. Hopefully I'll see a HP boostwith that mod.

So you all are saying that the jaguarxp intake kit that is linked on page 1 wouldn't do anything? They state a 13hp increase at the wheel with the intake kit they show, to me a hp increase would be worth money, do they usually lie?

I have a few sets of the cold air intakes for jaguar x-types. I am selling mine for $120 plus shipping. I have a post in the forums under private adds. email me at austinsjaguarx@aim.com for pictures and more info. Its a new kit with a carbon filter. Its plastic to repel heat, but has a chrome look finish to make it look nice. It sounds AWESOME!!!!!!!

there was a mod done to the airbox, its increase the air intake, but not sure about performce, its pretty much and extra inlet pip, taking in more air

Hi Guys, There is a Induction Kit for the 2.2/3.0 X-Type link;


This is my modification and upgrade to the latest Mina Gallery kit. Unfortunately their kit still does not fit. I kept some of the kit and made the rest and designed it myself. It is heat protected and is 76mm bore throughout the tubing. There have been no warning light issues or running problems. Only increased throttle response and a deep roar of induction note. I will be making more if there is demand.

The stock X Type intake is about as close to a cold air intake that you're going to get. Look at the video above...air intake inside engine compartment just above the red hot cat converter, ya sure.

I'd never put an oiled filter (K&N) ahead of a MAF. Of course they'll say no problem, but you over oil it and you're in trouble. You want more power, take out your filter and you'll get more power until your engine wears out, but I'll bet there won't be much of a difference.

Do something to your car that makes a difference. Cold air intakes are the answer to a question that no one needs to ask.

"cold air intake" is such a misnomer for so many cars. This has been gone over and over and over on here that intakes of any kind that put the filter in the stock location don't really add any real power, maybe a few hp. They do however give the engine a really nice sound, and I'm sure the bigger intake pipe and large cone lets a bit more air into the engine but all that hot air from the radiator and cat isn't doing any good, even on the stock air box, because if you think that plastic box keeps heat out, you're lying to yourself. Proper heat shielding could help. The only way I see of getting a true "cold" air intake into the X type is to put the battery in the trunk, reroute the intake to where the battery used to be, build a box/ heat shielding for the filter and route some ducting from the bumper into the box through the fender. Hopefully I'll be doing this soon, I have just about everything I need other than heat shielding tape. All that being said, I do have a "hot air" intake on my car currently, and it was worth it just for the sound alone haha.

Mine has the intake pictured in post 19 and it is definitely more about the sound than any performance gain.
