Default cold starting

My 2.2SE estate (59 plate) has had a fault for nearly a year. With the dealer scratching head.
When starting from cold, the engine sounds a bit rough. Then engage drive or reverse and the car starts jerking, in an attempt to drive off, though revs still about 800.
As soon as engine temp off the red, the engines purrs fine and the auto gearbox behaves without jerking.
Looked at EGR, replaced fuel filter (improved a bit).

The dealers problem is he only has about 10mins from cold to find a remedy, then has to leave for 3-4 hours to cool down again.

anyone know of this problem or the solution?

Hi Matthewa,

Just brought a 58 x-type 2.2SE, had exactly the same problem, have you found a fix yet?

Hi plpleung

After the dealer having the car for 2 weeks, replacing the entire fuel line and fuel pump, it still carried on.
Finally it was resolved. Turns out the fuel pump was faulty, but the software had adjusted the injectors. So changing the fuel pump may only a small difference. It was rectified by obtaining new software codes from Jaguar.
The car is now more powerful than before.

Dear Matthewa

Many thx for the reply. since it is warming weather now it is much better, but still doing it on a COLD morning, anyway will bring it in to Jagaur and ask them to do the same as yours.

How much does changing the the Fuel pump cost at the dealer? I think someone told me new software is around 100 pounds.

Many Thanks again.

Patrick.
