I was driving home today from work and the temp has reached a steamy 100 degrees. All of a sudden i notice the ac wasn't blowing cold anymore then i stopped at a red light and i noticed something evaporating from the hood.. could it be freon being released.. YES!!! My Compressor is gone the clutch is squeaking. I'm scared to drive it now in fear of the clutch locking up.. I called to get a quote on the repair.. well, the compressor alone is $1000.00. Labor $500.00 .. WHEW!!! man i swear this car is giving me the blues.

has anyone else experienced a blown compressor?

 

Just pull the plug on the wiring to the electric clutch and it won't engage.
You can drive it then.

 

buy a used compressor from any jank yard btw s-type & v6 linclon ls has the same compressor
if ur looking for a new compressor for a cheep price just get the part# from the dealer ship and write it in google i think this is the part # c2s042081
you will find alot fo sites selling a brand new compressor for about 399US dollars 499 max

Nice meemo, OP, definitely go new if you can afford it, it'll last most likely last the remaining life of the car. One good thing that came from Ford influence is some cross-compatibility in regards to parts.
