Default confused jaguar x type owner

Hey, I have a 2003 jaguar x type 2.5 automatic. I just installed a brand new battery and then a couple weeks late the car died on me so I replaces the alternator. After replacing the alternator I turned the car own and then put it in drive, the car just reved up. Suddenly the check engine light came on then it said gearbox fault. After playing with the gears it finally went to drive. As I was driving the battery light came on again, (remind you I recently replaced both the battery and the alternator). I don't know where to start, the code I was getting was P0706 which is the transmission range sensor. I don't understand why the battery light keeps coming on for awhile and then when I restart the car it goes off. Those problems didn't start until the mechanic put the new alternator in. Please help with some ideas. I'm soooo confused right now.

A good start would be to check all cable ends.

I would take the car back to the mechanic and ask him to correct the problem...
