Default Cooling Fan goes on/off Temperature goes up

Hello,

when the engine is on the cooling fan goes round 10sec. on then 10sec. off and this repeat. Because of that EngineTemperature goes up.

What can it be?

Thanks, Patrick

I actually had the same problem. My cooling fan crapped out on me and thank god my car was under warranty and they repaired it. If I was idle in traffic you can see the temperature rise and AC getting hot. As soon as I started moving again, the temperature would drop, considering the airflow to the engine regardless of inoperable cooling fans. I would suggest you get this looked at ASAP and avoid any driving other than to the shop!

This is what jaguar wrote in my invoice:

Concern: "Customer states check engine light came on, temp gauge pegged and AC blowing hot, can hear fan turn on and off every 5-10 seconds while AC is turned on"

Correction/Tech Notes: "Verify check engine light is on. Cooling fans are inoperable. When temp got hot computer turned AC off. Test cooling fans. Replace faulty fans and verify proper operation OK."

Keep us posted! Make sure you don't do excessive driving because you can seriously damage your engine due to overheating.

My Problem is comming again, the fan working 10sec and off then 10sec on, the air conditioner doesnt works.

Probably i need this part (cooling fan module) are the fan modules all the same for the x-type 2001-2007 ?:

Believe me, the problem didn't fix itself. If I was you I would take it to a shop ASAP. I'm not sure what part went wrong there can be a few things that happen, but you need to be careful in not blowing your engine due to overheating.

Patrick, why don't you take it to a mechanic and have them suggest you what is wrong with it? And than you can go out and find the part for cheapest? That way you just don't replace things you're not sure is broken.

whats the part number for the module? Apparently jaguar does not make the module anymore and modified the system so yoiu have to replace the fans also to put in the new fan system. so i found a salvage yard also and need to verify the part number.

thanks
