Cooling fan question.

Cooling fan question.
Search found me all answers, but one question.
Does the cooling fan run after key is removed? assuming engine is at the temp that would require it to run.
Car seems to be running a lil hot, not by the gauge but my senses, and I recall many cars run the fan after shutdown. So worth asking b4 I do anything.

I know this because I blew a hose and temp went in to the red on the gauge before I got home since most of the coolant was gone. The fans run for almost 15 minutes after turning the ignition off.

I was doing some checking and it seems the fan cuts off with ignition under normal operating temps, but if you do get the engine hot they will continue to run after shutting off the ignition.
I found the lil nub the sticks out the passenger side of the coolant resivor had a crack in it, the one with the small 3/8" hose that runs to opposite side of the motor. Got a temp fix on it but a new tank would make me feel better.

Well the parts car at the local yard did not have the collant resivoir so again I had to MacGuyver it.
The cracked nipple broke off the other day, probably from pressure. Emptied my tank and sent lights flashing, but no harm done since we were on the lookout for it and ready.
What I ended up doing was taking a file to the broken nub filing it flat, I then enlarged the hole and tapped the plastic with 1/4-18 threads and used a common 3/8" brass airline hose connector threaded into the hole as my new nipple. I would call this a permanent fix, all went well.
Nice to have that worry off my mind!
