Default A couple of questions ?

Hi Guys ...

Recently bought an X-type , 2008 2.2d auto Soveriegn , and I love the car , its class ..
However the horn sounds aweful so I have ordered a new set , has anyone changed theres as it looks a nightmare to get to them which I belive are under the battery box ?

Also has anyone added a tuning box to there x-types ?

In the past I have fitted these to other diesels and had good results , not bothered about performance but better MPG is something I would like to improve ..

Cheers
Ray

Hi Ray

I agree with you that the Horn is not very good and have been thinking about fitting another one, my previous x type had twin horns and they were fitted behind the Battery at the same Height and the Cable coming up from the original horn.I should have taken them off when i sold the car,i would have a look at taken off the front undertray to see if you can fit the Horn or Horns from there. What type of Horn have you Bought as i might go down the same route.

I can't help you with a Tuning Box as i haven't used any.

Regards Tom.

Hi Ray

Thanks for the details on the Horns,i wish you all the best in fitting them as there doesn't seem to be much space where the Horn is fitted.

Regards Tom.

Tuning boxes tend to get one of 2 replies:

Dont get a remap or

yes but buy a good one like DTUK or similar?

I have used a few tuning boxes on different diesels with reasonable results some cost me £60-70 others were £250 plus (I bought 2nd hand as I am a cheapskate).

If i were to do another after my xj6 petrol would probaly use a reputable remapper with rolling road who can actually tune the map and more imporatntly show the result, as this is a Ford 2.2 try their forums to see who is using what and who is deemed best?
