Question Which is Cylinder Bank 1?

This has probably been answered before but which cylinder bank is number 1? Is it the one towards the front of the car or the one towards the firewall?
Thanks

I guess I get to answer my own question but all this became moot when after changing the lower IMT O ring I discovered I now had a P0174 code for bank 2. Luckily I had the foresight to buy two O rings, just in case, from the Jag dealer yesterday. It's obviously smarter to just plan on replacing both O rings even if you're only getting a code for one bank as the other one is sure to follow sooner than later. All better now.

Stickman, bank one is the side nearest the firewall. Cylinder 1 is the cylinder furthest from the transmission on the bank 1 side.

Thanks Thermo. It took longer to figure out which bank was which than to replace the O rings.

Interesting. Aside from the orientation that's how Porsche numbers their cylinders on 911 engines. But then Porsche originally designed this engine.
