Dash going dead
I got a 2004 x-type 3.0l with 50000 mi. and its gone nuts! The power train light come on at first then the car shifts down to a lower gear, the dash gauges stop working all except the gas gauge. I pulled the trouble codes out and it gives me a P1642,P1796. Has anyone seen this before thanks. I got the 2 front wheel bearing changed the other day and they aligned all 4 wheels. Picture of the dash as it was acting up on the road attached below. Also when this happend i stoped on the side of the road and shut the car off, restarted the car and i could not get it out of park. Re-cycled the key and started the car but that time i could get it out of park. Could it be a relay somewhere.
Thanks

RE: Dash going dead
Update on my problem.
The car is not acting up today. The first day we have had without rain! What i have done to the car I removed the TCM module to inspect it and the module was good and dry with no corrosion. I put a plastic zip lock bag over it and re-installed just to be on the safe side. Second i unpluged the 2 plugs going to the transmission to inspect and no sign of water and the connectors are in good shape, So got the tube out of dielectric grease and put some all over the plug terminals, pluged everything back and hope for the best! The rest of the week it's going to rain so it should be a good test.
