Question Dials on zero car running

Hello I am new here, I drive an 02 plate 3.0 Automatic X Type. This morning while driving along (approx. 40mph) I noticed that all the dials on the dash board were reading zero! Odd, no mph, no fuel, no revs on display. I stopped and switched everything (lights, Air Con, radio) off then switched off the engine, waited 2 minutes and then switched engine back on and all dials were operational. A little worrying as not sure what caused this - any ideas?

Simon, first off, welcome to the Forums. Lots of good information here. But, we do ask a small favor of you. Please stop by the New Member Section and tell us a little bit about yourself and your car. We pride ourselves in being a better car group and as part of this, we like to get to know one another. This will also give you a chance to meet those that make this place what it is.

As for your problem, odds are, you are looking at a broken solder joint to the instrument cluster. Unfortunately, the fix is to remove the instrument cluster and do a detailed inspection of the solder joints (focus on where the plug attaches to the circuit board). Odds are, you will find a solder joint with a fine black circle in it. THe black circle is the brake in the solder joint. A quick touch with a soldering iron should fix everything.
