Did U.S. cars use R12 in 2002?
I found a partial can of R12, can I use it in my 2002 xtype?
I have unknow AC issues, well I know it's not a stuck vent.
But if I diagnose to refrigerant, is R12 ok to use?
My search gets vague results.

Don't put R12 in your X-Type. They use R134A.
R12 and R134A require different and incompatible compressor oils.
Cars switched from R12 to R134A in the early '90's - I had a '94 Ford soon after R134A became the new standard.

when recharging make sure you get all the old stuff out,or you will have a leek or damage your cmpressor, first use one of the small cans and see how it is ,then add a lttle more if not cold enough
Refrigerant R12 is coveted by many car enthusiasts for the older systems. At one time, each can of R12 was bringing over $50.
I'm sure someone would buy or trade.
All cars sold in the US were required to use R134a around 1993/94 MY.
