So a bit of advice from the experts please. I'm being quoted anything from 1700 to 2,500 for a recon engine, fitted. It means I will have to send the car to God knows who, hundreds of miles away and trust that they are honest and don't add hundreds on to the price once it's in their hands. If all goes well at least I will know where I am with the condition of the engine. Or I spend a few grand on another one and hope that lightning doesn't strike twice.

I have read that Lee Pauls, Essex, is reputable, I haven't contacted him yet, anyone had any experience of these?

sparkx, the best advice that I can tell you is to pick a path (both are viable and both have their pitfalls). Once you decide, it is a dead topic and deal with what is infront of you and not question "what if I had .....".
