Mine works great and looks great and just clocked over 80k miles last week. I keep up with my maintenance, so I haven't had any issues.

We just get a lot of people that repost threads about the same old crap instead of searching for a minute to figure out answers to their questions.

Mine is good, too. The thing you have to understand is that most people posting are doing so in a reactive way to solve a problem. If we had more enthusiasts tuning, customizing, racing, showing, detailing, etc. their cars, then there would be a better balance like other car forums.

Also, since they don't really split cosmetic or other interests from mechanical (like most other car forums), you see a ton of mechanical themes come through. I think we need to build a base of enthusiasts and separate mechanical issues (you could even call it "performance and mechanical" topics to make it sound more positive )

Jag built more than 350'000 X-Types over the life of the model.

There hasn't been 350'000 blown up transfer cases!

There hasn't been 350'000 broken ABS sensors!

There hasn't been 350'000 HID headlights that packed it in!

Though there might have been close to that figure in "bluetooth no working" & "how do I connect an ipod"

OK they're really bad examples but you get what I mean?

It's true the negatively is disproportional on this forum, but you've always got to keep it in context.

The X-Type is no worse for problems than any other car out there, it's just you're paying multiples more to fix/solve/improve than with other makes/models....

But good news doesn't sell newspapers...

When was the last time you wrote a letter or email to a company/store/whatever, or called them up to tell them how pleased you were with thier service/product/whatever? No, it's only when something's wrong or your not happy. (not you personally, the royal you)

The majority of posts are people looking for answers, that for whatever reason they haven't found themselves. Naturally that gives a negative impression. If you're on a forum then you have a real interest (passion?) in your car, your a d-i-yer, or you just want to get it done cheaper...

Have a look on the Toyota Camry forums, honestly, it ain't all that bad here...

keep in mind most forums are for discussion when cars have issues or mods. very few people open a thread " my car is driving great today"

the x type is nice, but can be expensive. when things go wrong you usually get sad excuses for overpriced labor "well its a jag" but to be honest, its a really basic car...i mean its no 1990 civic DX hatch with armstrong windows but its not all that complicated.

A few members have posted positive comments rather than complaining about their problems but it's a nature I can't blame X Type OWners just because they submit topics just about their problems , I posted threads about my XJ but w/o bashing the brand

I think generally speaking most of us have mostly possitive things to say. But I know for me I didn't look for a forum on Jaguars to wax enthusiastic about the joys of my car, more to figure out what was going wrong. All cars have issues, but it's easier to come here and tell everyone what code you're throwing than to go to the dealer.

I have positive things to say when I find an answer to an issue I'm having =)

Overall, I love my X-Type. No significant problems (except finding a fix to a battery light issue which seems to occur quite often in these models).

Spending money on mods (wants) are nice to talk about. Spending money on necessary repairs (needs) is a must to talk about.
