Default Does AWD work in reverse?

Hi Gang, I tried to back up my gravel driveway today which is pretty steep, and just my left rear wheel starting spinning. No other wheels tried to help pull me. Needlass to say, I had to go back down and turn around. Does awd not work in reverse or do I have other problems?

Actually it always works. Do you have a DSC on board? Maybe there was a slippery surface under the spinning wheel, so, as the X has a quite simple AWD system I might be the case.

Worn viscous coupling discs in TC. Тhey distribute torque between front and rear axle.
