Default door lock remote, power door lock, rear wiper

2008 X-Type 2.2D, Estate

Hello,
Out of the sudden, one morning I found that the remote door lock doesn't work anymore. Then I noticed that the door lock doesn't work at all anymore.
For example I open the driver door from inside. Normally all other doors should unlock. But they don't anymore.
Also I noticed that the rear wiper doesn't work anymore, but I can sprinkle water on the rear windshield, but the wipers wouldn't move.
When locking the door with the remote key fob the rear lights flash as usual, but the door lock actuators remain silent.
The car then thinks it's locked. So when opening the door in that state, the alarm would go off.

I'm mentioning the rear wipers because I have these symptoms since that day and maybe there's a correlation.

Please anyone, if you could help me with some tips, where to search and what to look at.

Thank you.

Regards,
Pete

psnizek, looking over the diagrams for your car, it sounds like you have a ground wire that has come loose. You will want to open up the left front door and then remove the plastic trim piece there at your feet. With the plastic removed, this is going to open up a bunch of the wiring for the car. What you are looking for is some black wires that are attached to ring lugs (not sure how many wires we are looking at here, but could be say 3 wires into 1 ring lug (minimum) or you could have 3 wires to 3 ring lugs, or some combination there of. There may be more than just those 3 wires. But, right in the area where you find the loose ring lugs, there should be a bolt that is welded to the body of the car. The ring lugs should be able to fit on to that bolt and if you look down at the bottom of this area, you will most likely find the nut. Put the wires back on the bolt and install the nut and tighten down. It may be possible that you are going to find the ring lugs and no bolt and what is expected is a screw is used to hold the ground leads to the body of the car. I do not recall what this specific ground point looks like.

If this is not the problem, then you are looking at a GEM module starting to go bad and soon other things for the car are going to start failing.

Thank you. What an elaborate response. I will check it asap. Currently very bad weather here ;-) and I'll keep you informed.

Again, thank you very much and shouldn't you hear from me in the next 3 days, I wish you a very merry Christmas.
