My Gold kitty, 2004 2.5L Petrol V6 Manual has been neglected for a while. I had removed the door cars for reasons forgotten and went to put them back together with new clips.
2 issues
First I broke a number of the clip holders on the door card itself - any suggestions on how to fix?
Second, I used all new White clips purchased, all the old one broke.. now these will not stay in the fixing in the door, they are identical size to the old ones... Suggestions welcome
DO I understand correctly that you issue is that the old door panel clips are broken?
Why don't you buy new ones?
They should be available to buy on Aliexpress.
Its the clip holders on the door card itself that are now broken, so nowhere for the clips to clip into to then push into the door.
by the way in reply to the comment about pink, I measured the new white clips (pins) against the old white and pink pins and they are the same size, looking to source the retaining parts that are in the door now to see its them that have now worn out.
It's a while since I had my door panel off...
Can you send a picture of the parts you are looking for?
you may remember, the door card pins, push into small round black plastic "grommets" which are pressed into the door panel itself, occasionally one of those grommets will either break, or come out of the door affixed to its pin when pulling off the door card.
The sketch is not all too clear, but I think you may be able to find what you are looking for on Aliexpress & dead-cheap:
I looked on Aliexpress for "Jaguar X-Type door panel clips" and "Jaguar X-Type door inserts for panel",
And I found this:
Now, it is possible that you cannot open those links (it may only be possible to open those exact like in Australia), but you should find the same, if you look with those keywords on Aliexpress.
Here is the screenshot of that link:

I am also finding Ford and Land Rover similar parts by using the search word snapsac
( with a schoolboy snigger)
Also learnt a valuable lesson and a New Years resolution, don't try extracting the clips or the snapsac's they rest in while the out temperature is just above freezing (centrigrade)
I took the door panel off a 2007 car, this is the front right side. I labelled the colours. I don't know what the pin is at the middle top
The pink pins are 1-1/4" long overall, the green pins are 7/8" overall.
When I remove the door cards, I have a pair of duckbill pliers that I get under the pins and the pliers spread. That lifts the pins out, instead of putting any force on the door card itself.
I tried to repair my 24 year old door card plastic clip holders a few times with plastic adhesive and also plastic welding. It would hold for a couple months max then let go. I decided to put riv-nuts into the door sheet metal and use shallow head fasteners under the wood trim. One issue is the metal clips for the wood trim were meant to be in the inside of the panel and it's difficult to remove the trim in one piece without access to the inside. The clips actually work if they're put on the cabin side of the panel but they still grab the trim hard. I just added some sacrificial foam tape so the trim would stay in the clips but would still pull out. It's been working great for over a year.
