2002 xType

I have a warning light and message that the driver side door is not closed but it is securely closed.

 

Either a door latch assembly internal micro switch has failed (you may need a new door latch mechanism), or you have an open circuit within the appropriate wire and harness plugs from the left door "Door ajar" switch through to the GEM (General Electronic control Module).
