Default Drivers door catch

Please can anyone help? I have a problem with my drivers door catch. I have found it difficult to open the drivers door and the car is not recognising that the drivers door is open

Hi Ants if you press and hold the lock button on the remote for around 4 or 5 seconds, it should go through the sequence from 1 to 2 stage locking.

Hopefully that will juggle the recognition?

Has anyone messed with the locks before, there is a post here re the door sticking, if I can find it, Ill post it here.

Regards, Stu

I had a similar problem where my car thought the door was always open. I just liberally applied WD-40 to the catch, slammed the door shut, and it's been fine ever since. The sensor is built in to the catch on these cars, it's not a separate button like on many other vehicles.

Hi Evan,

Tut Tut, the new world era states that we should use dry silicon powder these days as the WD40 can erode certain rubber and other stuff.

By the way, I posted on your vehicle being taken to the garage, have you read it or are things now sorted?

Cheers, Stu

Aha, no problem Ants,

At the far end of each speech box on the lower right, there are a few icons, the first 1 is for quoting someone in a reply and the 2nd and 3rd are multi quotes and the last one is "Thanks-Thumbs up".

If someone has spent time, cracked a good joke or just been a complete TOFF, then I click thanks, that person will get an indication of gratitude or an agreement of opinion, it's really very handy and goes a long way to creating a like for like way of appeciation and its great for the techies and guys who do a lot more than me!

Hope you're sorted then, thank you, Stu

A bit of a wild guess from me as I'm not familiar with the X-Type door latch ........

The XK8/XKR door latch has a microswitch which triggers the 'door open' message. This microswitch is a regular fail although it can be given a temporary reprieve with a squirt of WD40.

If the X-Type has a similar door latch setup, it could be your micro switch is one the way out.

Graham

That's exactly how the X-Type door latch is setup and I can confirm that I fixed mine with WD-40
