Drivers Door Handle Help
Hi all,
im having issues with my drivers door, the quick link posted by JimC64 helped, but the real issue is where the pin, that goes from the mech to the handle, meets the handle. I believe I need to remove the handle to re attach the pin. there is also a metal box section initially covering this pin, which wasnt in the quick help.
Can i remove the handle?
And do i need to replace this ''box'' section, or can i rip it out totally, to ease future handle issues?
I have a 2002 2.5 sport if that helps
Thanks in advance.
Regards

So the issue is you cannot open the door using the outside door handle? Am I understanding correctly?
Have you taken off the door panel and looked at the connecting rod? If you pull up on the outside door handle the rod will also move. If this is the case you can follow my how-to in the FAQ section. I just added it yesterday.

If you pull up on the handle and the rod does not move then you will have to pop out the outside door handle.

I looked in JTIS, I have a windows laptop available I have installed it on, and this is what it says:
Exterior Front Door Handle
1. Remove the front door window glass.
2. Remove the front door security shield.
- Remove the retaining screw.
- Remove and discard the retaining clips.
- Remove the front door security shield.
3. Disconnect the front door exterior handle connecting rod and the door lock cylinder connecting rod.
4. Remove the front door exterior handle retaining screws.
5. Remove the front door exterior handle.
Installation:
Install new front door security shield retaining clips.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Tighten to 5 Nm.
