drivers door lock
Hi,
I have searched and read all the posts that I can find related to door locks. This is the situation on my 2002 X Type Sport. When the doors are unlocked the drivers door will open properly. All other doors work properly, so we will concentrate on drivers door. All doors lock properly either by remote or by inserting the key in the lock.
All doors EXCEPT DRIVERS will unlock properly. The outside handle will lift, but will not open the door. It remains locked. It can be opened using the inside handle. I can verify that this is NOT the door handle rod problem. Some other posts mention lubricating the lock latch mechanism and also mentioned replacement of micro switches rather than the lock actuating mechanism.
I am willing to hear any ideas or helpful information.
Thanks
Update : I removed the door card and spent some time trying to understand how the latch and lock actuator work. After wasting about an hour, I decided to remove the latch and slather it with lube. Amazingly, this fixed the problem. I have re assembled the door and I will keep my fingers crossed.
