Ok I have had a similar issue with my driver door and my problem was that the rod that goes from the handle to the actual lock had loosened and fallen down too far. This will require you to pull up on the handle tremendously to open the door and make you crazy. The higher the rod position the less you have to pull on the handle to open the door. So what you have to do is remove the door panel and peel back the plastic seal on the door. Then you will see two rods coming from the door handle going to the lock. The rod that is the culprit is the one going straight down in to the lock. The rod is locked in to a plastic clip that looks complicated but can be easily unlocked by simply pulling it out with a hook tool. Once unlocked remove rod and raise it up so threaded section is closer to the top of the clip. Now lock rod back in to clip and make sure you test the handle before you put everything back together. This may seem tedious but trust me you will have it fixed in no time.
