Happy New Years all,
As the title says, the drivers door on my '02 X will not close.

This is not an issue w the latch being in a locked position,,
When closing the door, the latch won't 'grab' the striker.

I went to search the issue but couldn't find anything related

To give a bit of background,,
I bought the car about 1-1/2 yrs ago & always had door related issues....

The buttons on the keys have nvr worked. Changed batteries,, & nothing.

Secondly, the the central lock actuator on the drivers side nvr locked or unlocked the front passenger door.
I've always operated front passenger lock manually.
Drivers side operates other doors fine.
Passengers side will also operate rear doors properly.
These two issues have been consistent since I've owned the car.

Then I've experienced inconsistent issues for the past couple months...
At first, drivers door would not lock.
Not manually from the outside w key,,
Not from the actuator from inside the car either.
This problem disappeared after a lil while.

After that, the inside drivers door handle stopped working.
I had to lower the window and use the outside handle to get out of the car.
After about a week, that issue disappeared as well.

Right after that,,, the drivers door would give me problems securely closing. A good slam or maybe 2 or 3 slams always seemed to do the trick.
About two weeks ago, a friend greased or lubed the latch. It seemed to work much better until this morning.

Now the door doesn't close at all, regardless of how hard I slam it.
In trying,, I am also operating the handles & lock actuators in an attempt to see if any mechanism is tripped up. That's when I noticed that the inside drivers lock actuator is no longer operating the locks on the other doors.
The outside lock is still working w the key as it always did. 1 turn locks & unlocks drivers door(lock actuation only, door will not close)
2 turns operate other doors, except for front passenger door,,, of course.

Right now the cars drivers door is in a closed position, but of course,,,,
It's not closed & the interior light is on.
It figures that I can't find the button that will shut off the light!!!


Sorry for the wordy post but I want to be thorough in case the other issues are or aren't related.

Any advise would surely be appreciated.

Sounds like to me your in need of a new door locking mechanism. Your buttons on your key fobs need reprograming. If you need a door lock I have one out of a 2004. It should solve your issues. Pm me if you would like to talk more.
