Hey chris have you removed the panel on the x? It seriously is the easiest thing ever...i don't remember popping any of the door panel clips at all...it was a smooth flowing process just don't forget any screws!
yes i have removed both front and rear doorpanels on more than one occasion. It is not difficultand I didn't say that it was, I just find the headunit to beeasier for a diagnostic. He is troubleshooting, therefore you have access to multiple items to check inone place.

have you pulled the headunit?

Replaced my side speakers today with some infinities and that did the trick. The old ones WONT look damaged at all...trust me they are!

I decided to make my job a bit more difficult by moving the working driver side speaker to the rear that wasn't working and putting the new infinty 6 1/2's up front since they are a much better speaker.

Cant believe it was so easy...been driving with one sided speakers for a year...lol

I always end up braking a few of the plastic clip thingamabobs on the panel, since finesse is not one of my strong points. They are cheap, but still a PITA. I can pull the head unit on the X in less than 3 minutes.
From what you said it didn't sound like you've pulled the doors apart. My x-type didn't have any door panel clips except the one's that are actually permanently attached to the door (which if you break these you've broken your door panel.) Honestly I thought it was quicker to pull apart the door though.

Hey kevin,
That was probably a good call on your part to put the infinity's up front!

As for the easiness of it that's why I tried saying it quite a few times because I've never taken apart a door that was that easy...not even an 1984 pontiac phoenix I owned was that easy!

Glad you got it taken care of!

Oh yes....I had to take off each door panel. The first one wasnt fun but the others go quickly. Three screws for each of the front doors and two for the rear. You have to pull on the panel pretty hard and know that your likely to break a few clips. (Use a long screw driver for leverage to get closer to the clips) You really dont need all the clips in the first place but if all of them are broke you would need to buy replacements from your Jag dealer. I was lucky I guess...only broke a few clips and was able to reuse the others.

How many of us have that color of blue X-type? I rarely see one around my area, but seems like there are plenty out there. Kevin2050 your car looks exactly like mine, with the exception of the wheels.

My door was off from somebody previously so I assume that's why no clips broke on mine, but I didn't have to pry with anything...just a light tug on the panel...

The fronts on mine were similarly easy. But the rear doors were a bear and did require a bit of persuading with some soft pry tools.

I never had to remove the rears...surprising the rears would be harder than the fronts, especially when you consider the fronts are the doors that need to be on tighter as they'd be opened/closed more...
