I am not sure but I didn't think they had traction control at all? I thought dsc was the only form of a control for traction I know that if non dsc x-types behave like my car does when i turn the dsc off I would not have been happy in buying an awd vehicle...don't get me wrong I love the x in snow, if I would have bought one w/out dsc i would not have been too happy because I thought the car would have been flawless on bad roads...but i usually drove w/ dsc off in thick snow as it sliced through better. DSC is a better insurance policy for when someone that doesn't know how to drive in inclement weather...i.e. the wifey! Although I hit a hydrant on a clear day! LOL!

Nice looking jag! I have a 2002 X-type as well. 2.5 liter with no major problems.

Chas, quick question, can you please tell me what fluids you used for the Tcase and especially the transmission? I think people are still divided on using an aftermarket transmission fluid on this forum.

Hey thanks, but the Jag in the avatar is not mine. It was one all done up for a SEMA show. I will post a couple pics of mine.

For the Transfer case and rear differential I used Amsoil's 75w-140 Severe Gear (SVO) oil: http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/svo.aspx

And for the manual 5spd transmission I followed some other advice on the forums and used Redline's MTL manual transmission oil. I have used Redline's MT-90 (just a tad heavier than MTL (80w vs 90w). I know there continues to be some cloudiness when it comes to the J-gate auto trans and what fluid is acceptable to use.

Sorry, just wanted to clarify that I used Redline's MT-90 in my Porsche transaxles not in the Jaguar. Being it is just a bit heavieroil yet still has the same additivesI see no harm though.

nice looking red jag! I don't think I have ever seen a red x-type on the road?

thanks for letting me know what fluid you used. I am still confused what to use for my auto trans.

Hank..me and several others have been looking into the ATF for a while now...The bestchoice and least expensive that meet the JATCO specs is Valvoline MaxLife ATF...I plan on draining and filling at least 3 times over a period of a few dozen miles...Hopefully we'll be able to almost completely exchange all the fluid so as to notchance any gumming due to any possible fluid incompatibility,,Valvoline stands behind their recommendation for this transmission.

thank you. I was so confused but looks like valvoline maxlife is the one to get. Have you heard of anyone using it? if so I guess no problems. When the weather gets warmer, I plan on flushing the transmission and the Transfer case as well with the great DIY section. I'm no mechanic but I'll give it a shot.

Black is pimp...although cranberry red interior comes to mind that looks sweet...man with that exterior and bucks interior...oh my!

I must have been lucky as no problems with my Manual 3.0 03/2002 car to write home about, but then it has been serviced properly with the correct recommended lubricants and at the right service intervals as stated on the Jaguar maintenence schedule.
So make sure it has a full sevice history and test drive it before hand to check for things whining.
