Default EBC Blanks or Blackdash Slotted Rotors?

I am finally going to purchase brakes today.

I am getting EBC Redstuff pads.

I was moving forward with EBC Blanks, but just noticed that I can get EBC Blackdash slotted for only $75 more for the entire set (all 4).

What are your thoughts?

Is there really any benefit other than water dissipation with slotted rotors?

Thanks,
J

I lied, $69 more.

$313 for Blanks and Redstuff all the way around.
$382 for Blackdash and Redstuff all the way around.

The slots are really for gas dissipation under hard braking when gases are given off by the pads.

Unless you are a really hard driver, the solids may be the better choice due to price and greater resistance to warping.

Of course, they don't have the cosmetic appeal of slots

Those slotted discs will look great set off against a set of EBC Redstruff pads......especially when seen through a really nice clean set of alloys!!

IMO - For the few extra $$........go for it, I reckon you'll be disappointed if you don't

Thanks Plum and Jim.

Yeah, for only $69 USD, I may as well just get them for the look and wet stopping.

I agree, I think they will look nice behind

Too bad I don't have time to clean and paint the calipers.

Cheers,
J

I very quickly pulled off my wheels, cleaned calipers with wheel cleaner and a hose. Let dry and spray painted with Rust-oleum hammer finish. I then drove for a week, then changed pads and rotors.

Guess what? My sloppy job looks wonderful now that the oversprayed parts have been removed.

Total time, about 1 hour. Total cost $6.

Holding up great! 3 years now.

CUJET - maybe I will try that...though, I have just about 70k of dirt and grime on there.

Speaking of, has anyone else made it to 70K without changing the pads or rotors?

Anyway, I bought the parts this AM:

Front EBC Blackdash Rotors
Rear EBC Blackdash Rotors
Front EBC Redstuff Pads
Rear EBC Redstuff Pads
K&N Air Filter

Total: $450.38 (includes tax and shipping)

I think that was a decent deal

I had similar miles when I painted mine. It really was no problem. My calipers were corroding and very ugly. I did not use red. I used some form of gray.

You are going to really like your new pads. Redstuff pads are quite good. My stock brakes made it to about 35K, the second OEM set to about 80K and I'm now on my third set of pads. However, I do drive hard.
