Default ECM - reprogramming

Hi All,

A while back I had to change my locks, cluster, GECM and ECM as a matched set. I had been clearing an old O2 sensor fault code (P1647), after replacing it, but the ECM weirdly became bricked.

I have replaced the ECM, IC, Keys and GECM for a second
hand set hand set
. Unfortunately I didn't realise that the ECM was from an automatic car and so I have a permanent transmission light on the dash.

I'm wondering if I can re-flash the ECM using my Mongoose and SDD v1.3, but I don't know if the auto-transmission part is hard-coded or not. I've heard that the VID blocks can be flashed, but I'm not sure how that is done. I'm guessing that if I enter the old VIN code at the start of the session then there may be an option somewhere to perform the flashing, but again I'm unsure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated because my MOT is due soon and I can see them failing it with the light on. The ABS works fine, but the traction control doesn't.

Thanks,
Dave

Thank you - I'll be sure to do that.
