Default Eibach Prokit

Hello everyone,

I just ordered my Eibachs from Tirerack, andthey should be here by Friday. I'm having second thoughts about the springs. After placing those 18's on the car, it seriously looks jacked up, therefore, I must do something about the height. But I don't want to screw my car. I've never "lowered" a vehicle, and all these mentionedwheel/tire w/ lowered suspensionposts are scaring the hell out of me.I see the majority of you have gone with
H & R springs.... why? Also, can anyexperienced carmechanic do the job? Thanks

Adam

You'll be fine. Shouldn't have any problems.

yeah I'm still thinking about lowering my car you know... like all I am afraid off is a very stiff ride, that I don't want.

i also have 18's on my S-type and that is what I was thinking about lowering,, and once again... there is one thing stopping me... the stiffness that I've heard that I would get.

My wheels are 18x8.5, with 225/40/18 tires (use to have 255/35/18, but they rubbed way too much). My offset is 40 i think. The rubbing only happens in the back, the fronts fine. I cant have neone sit in the back now, cos when i do, the rear fender basically touches the the tire, and ive had the fenders rolled. You mite want to think about coilovers, then you can adjust the height and the stiffness.

Let us all know about the stiffness and what not of the car. I have the sport already and I think its pretty stiff but I'd rather have better handles than have a comfy ride!

I'm having an aweful time finding someone to put these springs on. Because I reside in WV, and the Jag population is low,all local mechanics have estrogenizedonce I'vesaidwhat they're going on. One told me it wouldhave to be done at aJag dealership due to the need forgeometrical realignment. Are these thatdifficult to put on, or are theserednecks just scared of"Jaguar"?

Rednecks don't know what the hell they are talking about.....anybody with "some" mechanical experience can install the springs. And, if they are carefull, you won't need an alignment.....just another way to milk an extra 100 bucks from the "jag" owner.... Hell I did it under 6 hrs....

Hey racer how much different are they than any other suspension? I changed all springs on my 94 thunderbird a few years ago and I still even have the spring compressor in case I ever do have to change the springs. How much different would that be to the jag? Isn't the jags rear an independent rear or not?

No different....if you did it on your thunderbird, you should be able to do in on the jag. As for the independent syspension....it's probably easier if not the same....

Where have you found the best prices for strut and springs for these? I have a few noises and I'm banking on them being the problem...

When i got my springs installed, i was told that there is a special tool for the AWD, so i decided not to do it myself. But i went to the shop to have a look at how they did it for a while, and it seems quite simple. I didnt see the tool that they are suppose to use, but it does say in the JTIS manual that there is a special tool. So just a heads up if you do it ureself. Im sure racer knows more about it though just to make sure. Hes better than the manual when it comes to this stuff.
