Default Electric Gremilin growning

2.2 d sport estate 160,000 miles 2007. This winter, the heater stopped. Now the screen and associated switches for nav, menu, windscreen heaters, ac, fa, climate and audio buttons that surround the screen are all non-functioning.. Also, the switches in the rear compartment to operate the windows do not work. The windows all operate from the front door control.
As far as I can see, all the fuses are ok. The engine and all the lights work fine. When ignition is switched on, the fan starts and blows hot air and can not be stopped.
Any suggestions as to the cause and or possible remedy?
Cheers Steve

Stevenup2, welcome to the Forums. Lots of good information here and lots of people willing to help and share information. Please stop by the New Member section and tell us a little bit about yourself and your car. This will give us a chance to meet you and you a chance to meet those that make this place what it is. You will see that we pride ourselves in being a better car group.

As for your problem. I see you having 2 issues that are not related. As for the dash heat and audio, that is all controlled by the head unit. Unfortunately, you need to get your hands on another head unit with the NAV and install that, but because you are having issues with both the external and digital buttons, the only answer really is the new head unit. Should be able to pick one up for fairly cheap (100 USD, you do not state where you are from, but being a 2.2D engine, you are not in the US). Of note, you will need to work on getting the radio code. Hopefully who ever you buy the radio from will have it. Otherwise, what you are going to need to do is to have a letter from the wrecking yard saying that they sold you the radio from car VIN # XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. Then you can go to Jaguar and they can get the radio code for you. But, if you don't have that letter, they are going to tell you that they cannot help you (that was part of the security features for the radio). You may not need the code as some regions did not seem to have that aspect activated.

As for the rear windows, it is the window switches in the rear doors. Sounds like someone has been a little rough on the switches and hurt them. I am assuming you have already tried to activate and deactivate the child locks for the rear windows via the button on the drivers door. If not, I would start there. If you suspect the driver's door switch group to be your problem, then you can remove the driver's door panel and look at the plug going to the switch assembly. You will want to find a black wire with a white stripe on it. Putting the multimeter on resistance, you should see that wire go between an open and grounded (ie, 0 ohms) when you hit the rear window isolate button. If you don't, then your driver's door switch complex is bad. If you don't need the child safety, then you can simply cut the black/white wire at the plug and ground the wire to a spot on the door. That should restore your window control for the back.
