On my 03 Xxtype, 125000 miles there may be a gremlin riding shotgun or a legitimate pending failure. Two times in the last week, during a short trip (40 Miles), in dry weather, I noticed that the red brake light came on under the spedo, and the speedometer display went blank with 3 dashes showing in it. You might think the Ghost of the Prince of Darkness was along for the ride. ANy ideas? Thank you so much.

 

lovemy, based on what you are describing, you are looking at your ABS computer starting to fail, leading to a loss of ABS function and speed input to the ECU/instrument cluster. I would see if you can find a shop that is local and see if they can put your car on a diagnostic computer and see if they can then drive the car around a little bit and confirm what I am saying.
