Electrical problems? I would like some help!
Hello fellow X type owners!
I have a problem with my jaguar X-type 2.5L automatic from 2003 (153k Km's).
It was freezing and raining out here when I took the car for a drive. After a few km's I got a gearbox faulth. We drove home in one gear and i went on a search for the possible cause.
Good to know is both of my headlights went kaput at the same time!
I wrote P1643 and after I did some research I used a multimeter to check all the fuses. I also swapped the relay from the TCM, this didnt change anything.
I have taken out the TCM to check for corrosion or moist but it is bone dry.
Also the battery when the car is off was 12.5V and when the car is on it is 15V.
Also the indoor lighting flickers a little bit?
So i assume it is an electrical problem and I would appreciate some help from you forum members with trouble shooting!

Mike, the P1643 code is saying that the CAN Bus wiring between the ECU and TCM has a problem. This is not allowing the TCM to know the load of the engine or RPM to know what gear to pick. You have eliminated the fact that some water may have gotten into the TCM, but the more likely water source is the ECU which is under the cowl at the base of the windshield. From there, you are going to have to so some hand over handing of the wiring to follow the wiring between the ECU and TCM to see where the wiring may be damaged.
So, look at the ECU plug and then lets see what you have then.
