Default Electrics issue

Hi all,

I took my X type off the road a couple months back and removed the battery. Last week I attempted to get it back on the road, I fully charged the battery but as soon as I connect the leads the door central locking starts locking and unlocking rapidly and constantly. When I put the key in the ignition the doors stop but when turning the key nothing happens apart from the hazard light on the dash light up. Can anyone shed any light on what may be wrong please?

Has the car been left outside for all that time? If so, as an educated guess I'd be looking for damp or water ingress to control modules/fuse boxes wiring.

Chris, not to ask a silly question, but are all the wiring harnesses in good condition? You would not be the first one to have had a critter crawl up under the hood and crew through a harness or two and have all sorts of weird issues to suddenly crop up. The critters really like the under hood insulation too.
