I have a slight coolant leak which I cannot find. Seems to be coming from a hose somewhere low. It's not the split in the plastic upper hose, as I replaced that last year along with the water pump. Car has 68,000 miles. It's an 03.

I disconnected the sensor from the accordion intake hose while looking for the leak. I now have an engine light. Do I have to reset it or will it clear up after a while?

 

Get the codes read. If for free by one of the local auto stores or by purchasing a cheap reader. The codes can get you lots of help. Either have them turn it off or you do it with the reader. If there is no problem it should reset after a certain number of ignition cycles.

 

Mr, if you are talking the sensor just upstream of the accordian tube (ie, between the accordian tube and the air box), then that is the MAF sensor and you will get a code and as long as you plugged it back in, you will have the CEL clear after a few more starts. You can wait for that or simply disconnect the battery for a minute and then reconnect. If you disconnect the battery, then you will have to reset your windows, but that is an easy fix too.

 

I unplugged the battery and I still have the engine light. I do have a computer which I will try and see if I can clear the code/s.

Any ideas about the coolant leak?

As for your coolant leak, take a look at the thermostat behind the radiator. See if you have some spots of coolant collecting on the bolts. After that, I would say to put a little bit of newspaper under the car and let it idle for say 15 minutes. See where there might be a drop or two of fluid on the paper.

After that, I would say to get yourself an additive for the coolant system that glows under UV light. Then you can simply add it in with your next top up of coolant and then you can use a UV light (aka, black light) and shine it into your engine bay. If it glows, then you know where the coolant is running. Then it is a simple trace it backwards to see where your leak is starting.

The light went out by itself. The coolant leak seems to be from the drivers side near the bottom. The car only has 60 thousand something miles...

 

Mr, could it be that the coolant leak is coming from the top of the radiator on the driver's side where the coolant hose comes in? Then it is running down the foam and coming out at the bottom of the radiator where the foam stops. That would make the leak hard to see and appear to be coming from the bottom. Otherwise, the other possibility I can think of is you have a pin hole leak in the core of the radiator.

Nope it looks like the leak is coming from behind the foam near the bottom. The upper hose is dry as it can be.
