Default Engine Management after Battery Change

This weekend was the first cold snap this year, and I believe the battery was the original in my car (genuine Jaguar battery) , so was about ten years old. It failed, so I got a Bosch S5 800A 85Ah Silver Plus Battery - a lot bigger but sits fine in the battery tray. Car now starts perfectly every time, however within 40 miles of changing the battery the engine management light came on - the car drove perfectly normally, no restrictions or rough running. The light stayed on for 2 days then went off and so far (touch wood) has remained off.. is this because the car had no electrics and the engine management had to reset itself, or should I be looking out for something else? I would appreciate any thoughts... :-)

Steve, I would tell you to go to the auto parts store and get the codes read. While the CEL is not on, the code will still be in the computer. That will help narrow down whether the problem is a one time occurrence or something to worry about.
