Default Engine noises.

I've been hearing a whine coming from my engine. It changes with RPM...not just vehicle speed. It sounds like a bad power steering pump, or other engine accessory (alternator, belt tensioner, etc.). It's been to the dealer twice, and they think it's the transfer case. Does that sound possible? It happens even when the car is parked. They ordered a new transfer case for me, and I'm ok with getting a new one for free, but do you think that will fix it?

Thanks in advance.

if it makes the noise in park then it's not the tranfer case... but free one won't hurt .

It definitely makes the noise is park. I told them that...and that I didn't think it was a transfer case...but, if they want to give me a free one, how can I complain. BTW, I have 27,000 miles.
