Default Engine System Failure

I have a 2004 x-type 3.0, this morning when I started the car I received gearbox failure, and an engine system failure message. When I put the car in reverse the car jumps, same thing if I put it in drive. When I put my foot on the gas pedal the car barely moves, if I put it in park and hit the gas pedal the car does not rev up. I cannot drive the car to see what the error code is. Can anyone help?

It's not necessary to drive the car to get the codes, what you need is is a code reader to pull the codes. You can't rev the engine because the computer sees something wrong and won't let the engine destroy itself. The car won't move because there is a problem with the transmission.
